Watching PPV on Kodi will end up in Legal Isuues:

Kodi is a popular media streaming software which has a wide range of applications. Although millions of people use this all over the world,  there is always a question of Legality. Kodi is used as a general term to describe many features of the application, but the software itself performs only one function, which allows you to import, organize and view your personal media library. It comes from the Xbox Media Center, developed in 2004.

A decade and many years later, Kodi was born. It started with version 14 and has since grown rapidly. The Software has continued to improve through partnerships with developers and cash and community donations.

This evolution is essential because it provides a roadmap of authenticity by talking about Kodi. By itself, Kodi is nothing more than a front-end media server and a very tool with no additions. Many users, such as those using a Raspberry Pi, do not have options for choosing a media center. Kodi becomes a very suitable option.

So, to answer the short question, Kodi is completely legitimate. The application itself does not interfere with the areas of the suspicious law. But whatever you do is not legal. There is the second part of a legal question. Developers can create add-ons that are not officially compatible with its base since the application is completely open source. These unofficial add-ons are not subject to any approval process and, sometimes, are not entirely safe.

Kodi and legality of Add-ons

A distinction must be made between Kodi and the add-ons installed on it. Understand what is essential to know where you are legal. Kodi is an open-source platform and it makes you available with almost all the media content, which includes the paid content, PPV events and other channels that are not free to stream. This is where the legality issues start. As we all know Kodi has both official and unofficial add-ons.

Add-ons are additional software components developed by the user that make everything possible that can be written into the code.  But unofficial add-ons cannot be said to be completely safe. XBMC Foundation provides an official repository of these add-ons that is completely legal. There are some interesting additions like YouTube and SoundCloud, but that’s not what they’re looking for with Kodi.

When Kodi is illegal?

Kodi only sued in court when certain criteria were met. Some legal actions related to Kodi were presented. Kodi is the goal and they are not.

All unofficial add-ons that transmit copyright-protected content only serve as search engines for other sites, a middleman which serve the stream continuously but not officially storing them. So they are completely legal and can not be prosecuted directly in the United States.

In short, Kodi remains legal, and even unofficial add-ons promoting hacking are legal, but the hacked content itself is not legal. Kodi works through a violation, the future of the platform is uncertain.

How to protect yourself:

It is necessary to protect yourself from the current or future status of Kodi regarding legality. ISPs always track your IP and copyright Lawyers always obtain the IP addresses of users who download or stream copyrighted content. If you want to avoid a message in your mailbox, you must register for a VPN. A VPN allows you to remain anonymous online. American Laws allow ISPs to track, store and share their IP addresses with others. A VPN redirects you by displaying a different IP address and making it virtually impossible to find.

In addition, a VPN opens the content range in Kodi. Your IP address still prevents you from watching Geo-restricted content but if you want to see something live without restriction then VPN is the right option for you. Using one is simply good practice. The small insurance policy keeps the information, but guarantees that your information remains private. As long as there is the possibility of anonymity, it is better to use it.
